The policy of Bernard Shipping Agency focuses on ensuring safety at sea, prevention of human injury or loss of life, and avoiding damaging the environment. For the purpose of enforcing this policy, a Safety Management System has been established which complies with national and international regulations and relevant standards and guidelines concerning safety and environmental protection. Such system is implemented and maintained by the development and enforcement of appropriate procedures (both ashore and abroad), which are illustrated in the SMM. In addition to the above, this system aims to establish safeguards against all identified risks and continiously improve safety management skills of all personnel in ashore and abroad ships. The implemented Safety Management System, as it is documented in the Safety Management Manual, as well as the existing procedures in use, are supervised, inspected and reviewed, as necessary, by our Management which is responsible of ensuring that all employees understand and comply with the company’s policy on safety and environmental protection matters ashore and on board all vessels involved. Bernard Shipping Agency aims to: -protect the well being of individual seafarer and the crew as a whole. -protect the safety of the vessel, the public and the environment. -stress that officers and ratings shouldn’t be impaired when performing scheduled tasks. -ban of all alcoholic drinks and spirits to be possessed by the crew.
